Whenever possible I enjoy composing for short films and other projects. In the last 4 years I have worked on an number of independent short films, engineered recordings for full length features, and contributed sound to art installations as well as performing and releasing my own music as The First Seed.
Visual Art
I create visual art as often as possible. Ranging from drawings to realtime digital visual pieces. Some pieces will be shown at 13th St. Winery in St Catharines spring 2010.
Teaching
In the past I have taught art and music lessons as well as recording and mixing techniques. Usually in small groups or in a 1 on 1 setting. It has been a rewarding and enjoyable experience and I hope to do more in the future.
Fire Escape Recording, from 2006 to present. Assistant/Engineer;
My time at FireEscape is divided between engineering recording sessions, some book keeping, cleaning, gear setup, vocal tuning, and coffee making. This is a freelance position where I must be able to follow strict direction but also use my own judgement when meeting with clients and assessing their needs.
Flow 93.5, from August of 2006 to present. Live to Air Board Operation;
At Flow I am responsible for making sure the signal is received at the station during 'on location broadcasts' and sent back out to Toronto with the appropriate musical beds in place for the hosts to talk over. I have to cue the commercials and hosts so the broadcast sounds professional. It is a saturday evening gig where I must pay close attention to details and be able to react quickly if the need arises.
Spinmaster Toys, from November 2009 to present. Freelance mock-up artist;
At Spinmaster I apply my artistic talents to create mock-ups of toys and product boxes before they become mass produced. Attention to detail, and the ability to figure out complicated designs are fully utilized in this position as communication from the engineers and the mock-up crew is often minimal and usually non-existent.
